The STOCK Act of 2012 gives a member of Congress 45 days from execution to disclose a trade. What you are reading may therefore be six weeks old — it is a filing record, not a live position, and the price has usually moved before the disclosure is public.
The filing form asks a member to tick a value bracket (for example $1,000,001 to $5,000,000), not to state an exact amount. Every dollar figure here is the midpoint of that bracket and is an estimate, not a reported number.
Disclosures cover the member, a spouse and dependent children. Some of these trades were executed by an asset manager without the member being involved at all.
